Awesome!
Isn’t this just another form of stock picking which most of us are bad at or cant jump in and out at the right time? Did you ever do a video on portfolio construction along the lines of core / satellite ?
Very good and informative video Thank you
Thank You
Excellent advice ❤
Good insights. Charlie was a legend.
Wise words as always
Thank you. Excellent summary as always
Love the videos Tim - always a good watch - and good of you to be brave enough to call yourself an investing legend :)
Man there's a lot of great stuff in this video, I know it's been 6 years but would you do more of these case studies?

A few home-truths here!
I remember the Sarah Beeney effect. Everyone else is just lucky, my success is down to skill...said just about everyone!
Nice advices as always, thanks Uncle Tim!
I like your weekly updates, clear and concise! 👍
Liked it
Ai bubble is popping, finally. AI is a gimmick anyway.
Excellent video Tim - lots of good tips! Screen time certainly seems to have replaced play time in many households.
Another good video Tim, I will share this with my 13 year old son. We invest in his stocks and shares ISA every month but now he is a bit older he is starting to get pocket money from his grand mother and occasionally money from the neighbours who he does little jobs for. I am going to suggest to him that will match anything he invests. I also like your daughter's school rewards. Since my son started school I have always said a little "mantra" to him when I drop him off, or now he's older when he leaves the house. "Have fun, learn stuff and be nice to people".
thanks
Good points, thank you 👍
Have a great weekend!
Bed & ISA done already. I've learned. . . .
Need to keep an eye on odd dividends in general accounts and company share schemes. Never had to think about it before.
When the US indices started rallying at the end of October 2023, it was abundantly obvious to me that everyone was jumping the gun in terms of rate cuts. And reading comments on the internet, it was clear I was not the only one. Why was the market so keen to price rate cuts in? Are whales really that stupid? Or was it just greed / FOMO? I know the market is irrational, but this was top-tier stupidity. Markets have peaked, in my view, until US inflation nears the 2% target, or a rate cut actually materialises (which I think is unlikely in 2024).
Enrolling your children in a state school is a decent way to reduce/eliminate school fees. I know they are not always of the highest standard, but I fail to see much stability in our education system if the vast majority of parents shun them in favour of private education. Moving house in an effort to gain acceptance to a certain school only skews further geographic disparity in prosperity within an already divided country. My anecdotal personal experience adds no real further weight to my argument, but I am proud to share it. I went to my local state school, and my parents never considered moving house, or were able to afford any school fees. I did ok at school, 10A's, 3 A's at GCSE, then four A's at A-level (no A-stars around in my day). I studied for a Masters at Imperial College, gaining a Distinction (full industry scholarship). I am now 3 years retired (age 32) from my career in the Petroleum industry. I have made a few return trips to my state school (now an academy) to inspire future generations as best as I can. My state school was regularly listed as 'failing' but I had some great teachers!
Thanks👍
Remember when Corbyn - and Angela Rayner, his bulldozer, who is still a big noise in Labour - wanted to abolish all private schools? Politics is nothing more than a children’s playground game in which each side tries to do its worst to the other. I can’t wait for the abolition of two-party politics. They all stink. Bring on the AI.
I’ve just come across your channel…the content is great - no nonsense straight to the point each time. You are an engaging speaker, Tim!
Glad you have found me - enjoy!
Thank you, Uncle Tim is the best!
I have to say that I've only recently found your channel and you really do make things very simple to understand for the novice investor. This is definitely a sub from me.
Welcome aboard!
I got 500 quid in a bank I being charged 1.99 a month to keep open. I want to close it, where should I put it for now? Isa yea? Cheers
I've done all this, followed good advice, and ignored better advice :(
In South Africa we switched to T+3 from T+5 a number of years ago. Our local bourse noted that the objective was T+1. Looking forward to that 🤞🏾🇿🇦🤞🏾🇿🇦🤞🏾
Shameless people, even after lots of water scandalous they still expect dividends 😔
Great explanation 👍
I say the quicker the settlement the better, great to see the Americans improving on the system :) Maybe one day we can get to real time settlement...
An important development well-explained.
Interesting, i hadn't heard of this change happening but it makes sense as technology evolves to allow it.
Interesting. In the UK your bank statement may state £X.00 but this is pending any outstanding settlements ie. cheques to be cleared. If you want to know how much money you actually have you must ask for 'cleared effects'.
Very good explanation. I had been using portfoliovisualizer's sharpe ratio calculuator to know where to put new funds each week on my 7 stocks. Some weeks certain stocks are apportioned $0, so it's a very helpful idea that can help you get more potential gains.
Thanks for the tips and reminders
👍👍
Thank you 👍
Excellent video as ever Tim, nice and thorough in a short space of time 👍
Nice to hear that I am at ‘the other end of the spectrum’!
Useful material.
